Simplifying the Representation

You can simplify meshes to generate a lighter representation of 3D shapes.

Through this functionality, you can drastically reduce the size of your assembly.


Before you begin: Open an existing product.

  1. In the top bar, select Add > Content.
    The New Content dialog box appears.
  2. In Physical Product Structure, click VOCSimplification .
    The Simplification dialog box appears.
  3. Select the product for which you want to compute the simplification, in the tree or in the 3D area.



  4. In the Reference product box, select a reference product.
  5. Enter a value for the Accuracy.
    This value defines the simplification calculation accuracy. A higher value results in slower computation time, but a "lighter" simplification representation.
  6. Click OK.

    A new 3D shape is created containing the resulting simplification:



    Tip: You can have a better view of the result if you select the Triangles view mode from the View Mode Customization dialog box:
