Applying a Thickness

You can apply thickness to surfaces to create a volume by applying an offset both in the direction of the surface normal vectors and their opposite direction.

Applying an Offset
  1. From the top bar, select Add > Content.
    The New Content dialog box appears.
  2. In Physical Product Structure, click VOCThickness .
    The Thickness dialog box appears.
  3. Select the product for which you want to apply the thickness, in the tree or in the 3D area.



  4. Select a reference product.
    Note: The Reference product box is filled in by default with the root product.
  5. Optional: Select the Orientation constraints check box to manually select the orientation direction along which the thickness is computed. Select an orientation direction for the required faces.

    By default, this option is cleared and the default orientation direction is along the normal to the respective faces.

  6. Enter a value for the Offset1 and the Offset2.
    The values can be either positive, negative or zero values.
  7. Click OK.
    A new 3D shape is created containing the resulting thickening:
