Defining Business Targets

You can define business targets on the weight and center of gravity of any item (for example, physical structure, configured product or EBOM) in the Business Target Definition app.

You can also attach a KPI target to a configured item (physical or logical). The KPI target is defined on the configuration itself.

  1. Click the Compass and click the Business Value Definition app.
The app opens in the current dashboard.
  2. Optional: To verify the server status, click Check server status and select Dispatcher, ORPHEUS Controller Server or Semantic Graph Index .
You can see blue indicators when the status is valid, or gray indicators when it is not. A tooltip indicates what you should do or provides the index scan date.
  3. Optional: Select a configuration or a filter.

For more information, see Using a Zoning Filter.

If several configurations are available for this item, you can select one of them. You can also compare different configurations.
Tip: When your component has more than six configurations, a search box is displayed and you can filter the list.

The web page displays the consolidated KPIs for this item. If you hover over the chart, a tooltip displays the KPI values.

  4. In the 3DSearch box, select the element on which you want to author KPI targets.

There is a thumbnail view for the weight and center of gravity KPIs. Click to create or edit targets for any KPI available.

  5. Optional: Expand the tree to see each child of the item with its KPIs targets.
Note: When a configuration has been selected, you cannot expand the tree as the configuration is attached to the selected element, not to its children.
  6. Add a minimum and maximum value or a comment, or create a new target.
  7. Save the business targets.
  8. Optional: To verify if your data are consistent with the indexed components in Exalead CloudView, click Launch an Index Scan .
An index scan starts. A periodic index scan (every 2 minutes) is automatically defined during the installation of the app.
  9. Click Refresh to see the accurate information.
