Weld Design is a native app that provides key capabilities to:

  • Create welds in 3D digital mockups. This enables designers to manage the digital preassembly, mass inertia, space reservation, and drafting annotation.
  • Automatically prepare the parts once welded, thus creating associative assembly features in addition to the physical weld element.
  • Integrate welds with 3D Design. If the weld material is specified, then the mass and inertia of the weld ribbons are added to the mass and inertia of the whole assembly. This enables the user to perform relevant calculations. Welds can also be integrated to the clash collision analysis and other structural and stress analysis for the assembly.
  • Fully integrate welds with Drafting. They are automatically generated in the standard views, section views, and section cuts and are impacted by the hidden line removal visualization mode of the assembly. 2D weld annotations can also be created.

Weld Design helps you create the following weld types:

  • Fillet weld
  • V-butt weld (with or without prepared parts).
  • Bevel-butt weld (with or without prepared parts).
  • Square-butt weld (with or without prepared parts).
  • Flare-groove weld
  • User weld
  • User swept weld

The Weld Design app is not compatible with the Offline mode.

This includes the thumbnail representations of parts or assemblies used in markup screens.
