Work Instructions

Work Instructions (WI) enables planners to add work instructions or details to operations and to specify the information that can be both provided and collected using a manufacturing execution system (MES). It contains instructions for doing the work, which may add value or may be data collecting and record keeping.

An Operation may aggregate multiple sequenced WIs to break the Operation into a series of tasks. The Textual work instructions define the content of the work instruction. Views and dressup of the views create what is a 3D work instruction that highlights important aspects of the work infrastructure.

What's New

This product allows users to create work instructions. These instructions add to the operations defined in any Manufacturing Engineering app. Planners can create work instructions that can:

  • Have files such as PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, or a wide variety of image files attached.
  • Be associated with time-based operations such as loading or fastening.
  • Appear on an MES screen that is interactive (for example, collect data or sign offs)
  • Preview based on XSLT templates, to verify the instructions' appearance
  • Save as HTML files that can convert to printable (PDF) files.

Work instructions can store in catalogs, assuming you have a license for the Design IP Classification app. Also, you can insert or modify the Cataloged instructions.
