Inserting FTA Captures into a View

You capture a specific mix of your FTA content in a view. For example, you might have some FTA data visible and other FTA data hidden, and you might show the 3D content from a particular viewpoint. FTA requirements can come from either the items available as part of the part buildup or separately from geometric requirements, that is, nonbuildup FTA. Nonbuildup FTA does not hide when the geometry hides. It does not move when the geometry moves.

  1. Select an operation.

  2. Click Insert Image from FTA Capture in the Instruction Authoring section of the action bar (this is only enabled if Views are activated).

Note: Before doing anything, the command first verifies to make sure that all your changes are stored in a View (either by Create New View or by Update View). If there are unstored changes that are not stored, then this displays a warning message and aborts.

The Insert Image from FTA Capture panel appears, containing a list of all the captures in all geometry for all manufacturing Items with the buildup display status of current. That is, manufacturing Items that are implemented by the operation recently clicked the Operations Sequencer.

  3. Click to insert an image in the view corresponding to the selected Capture in a new 2D Picture Marker by selecting Insert Capture.
The 2D Picture Marker appears in the center of the screen, and the panel closes when the marker is created.

    The 2D Picture Marker contains:
    • The viewpoint stored in the Capture
    • All geometry (Item & Resource) displayed by the current buildup settings
    • The FTA specifies to show by the capture
    • The FTA in other parts of the product tree that are outside the control of the Capture and were already visible before the command was run.
  4. Create a new view with the new FTA capture or update the current view.
You cannot automatically update the 2D Picture Marker if the capture is modified. Therefore, you can see a B.I. Essentials option to determine whether your capture needs an update by using Update FTA Picture Markers. To access the B.I. Essentials list, from the Tools section of the action bar, click B.I. Essentials and select Image from FTA Capture Status.
