App Kinds

Governance app
Mostly Web applications ensuring governance business process such as Requirement, and program management for example.
WIP app
Mostly Desktop applications ensuring Work In Progress business process such as Product Structure Design, and Functional & Logical Design.

Abstract/Concrete Status

Abstract
An abstract element (which can be a type or an extension) is only created to share some attributes with its concrete (sub)-elements. Abstract elements cannot be instantiated and are not displayed in the native or web apps.
Concrete
A concrete element can be instantiated and is displayed in the native or web apps.

Naming Terms

Internal Name
Name given to a specialization element at creation time.
External Name
Name of a specialization element that appears on the end-user apps according to the end-user app's language. You can define an external name for each supported language.

Specialization Elements

Type
Type of objects delivered by apps.
OOTB DS Type
Type delivered by DS. Some of them can be specialized, that is derived, by customers.
Specialization type
Type created by a customer by deriving a specializable OOTB DS type.
Attributes Group
Attributes group enable the administrator to add attributes to existing DS types.
Extension
An extension defines an additional attribute for a requirement, specification, specification folder, chapter, comment, test case, or use case. Use extensions for customizing a requirement or specification for your company. An extension added for an object, such as a chapter or specification, automatically appears on forms for that object. For example, the extension appears on the Properties page for a requirement.
