Editing Multiple Parts

You can edit parts from the part search results page. If you are creating multiple parts at the same time, the Edit page opens automatically so you can make attribute changes to the newly created parts.

Note: If you edit a part without selecting a work under change and then try to save, you will be prompted to select a work under change.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click Search > Engineering > Parts and search for parts. See Predefined Queries. From the search results page, select one or more parts and click Edit from the page toolbar.
    • From the top bar, click > Engineering > Part > Create Part. Enter attribute details as required, and include a value greater than 1 in the Number of Parts field. Click OK.
    • If Manufacturing BOM Management is installed, from thetop bar, click > Manufacturing > Create Manufacturing Part. Enter attribute details as required, and include a value greater than 1 in the Number of Parts field. Click Done.
The Edit form opens, where you can make changes to part attributes.
  2. Make modifications, as required. You can make changes using either in-cell editing (to change one cell at a time) or Mass Update (to change multiple items at one time).

To use in-cell editing, click the cell to change and select or enter the change. For details about the attributes, see Creating a Part or Manufacturing BOM Management User's Guide:Creating a Manufacturing Part.

    To use Mass Update:

    1. To make changes only to certain items, select the items.
    2. From the Mass Update menu, select the attribute to change.
Depending on which attribute you choose, you will see either a field, a list, a calendar, or a chooser.
    3. Select or enter the change to make.
    4. Click Apply to Selected or Apply to All.

The icon indicates which items have been changed. Changes are shown in the table columns in italics.

  3. After editing, do one of:
    • Click Save to save changes.
    • Click Reset to undo changes and continue working in Edit mode.
    • Click Close to close the form without saving changes.
