Create a New Ambience from Within the App
You can create a new ambience starting from the one that is assigned to the active
scene. The newly created ambience automatically replaces the ambience of the active
scene.

Click Create Ambience
in the action bar.
The Ambience Creation dialog box opens, showing the
ambience from the active scene as a starting point.

Drag the HDR or 2D backplate image (in .png, .jpg, or .jpeg format) that you want to
use for lighting and reflections from 3DDrive or your local storage to the drop zone, or use Browse
.
If you drag an image to the viewer, it is automatically applied as lighting and
background.
The image is added as thumbnail to the second position of the switcher on the
right. It is marked as active and visible in the preview as well as in the viewer on the
left. The top entry always shows the default image coming from the scene ambience.
- Optional:
Drag another HDR or 2D backplate image that you want to compare with the first one to
the drop zone, or use Browse.
The image is added to the second position of the switcher. Note:
If you load
more than three images, the lowest entry is removed.
- Optional:
Click the thumbnail of the image you want to see in more detail in the preview. Make
sure that at the end the image is selected, that you want to use to create the new
ambience with.
- Optional:
Activate the Background switch.
The background section is no longer grayed out.
- Optional:
Drag the HDR or 2D backplate image (in .png, .jpg, or .jpeg format) that you want to
use as a background to the drop zone, or use Browse
.

right. It is marked as active and visible in the preview as well as in the viewer.

Specify a Name for the ambience you want to create.

Click Next
The Adjust step appears.

Specify the properties for the Lighting and the
Background.
Exposure and Rotation are linked to
the properties of the background. If you chose a 2D image as background, you cannot
specify any properties.

Click Create.
The finite ambience environment you defined by the selected
image or images is saved in the 3DEXPERIENCE
Platform. In addition, the newly created ambience automatically replaces the ambience of the
active scene. You can find the ambience in the content panel. Note:
If the scene already
contains one or more products, the new ambience is automatically positioned in a way that
fits its ground as best as possible to the lowest product in the scene. This is not the
case when you assign an ambience that already exists in the Experience to a scene.
Create a New Ambience from the Home Page
You can create a new ambience from the home page by
dragging an HDR or 2D backplate image in .png, .jpg, or .jpeg format from 3DDrive or a local storage to the app.

Drag the HDR or 2D backplate image (in .png, .jpg, or .jpeg format) that you want to
use for lighting and background to the home page.

scene also on tablet devices. The newly created ambience automatically replaces the ambience
of the active scene.

In the Lighting section, tap
Browse.

Do one of the following:
- Select the HDR or 2D backplate image (in .png, .jpg, or .jpeg format) that you
want to use for lighting and reflections.
- Take a photo.
If you used a 2D backplate image, it is automatically converted to a lighting
image.
The image is added as thumbnail to the second position of the switcher on the
right. It is marked as active and is visible in the preview as well as in the viewer on
the left. The top entry always shows the default image coming from the scene ambience.
- Optional:
Choose another HDR or 2D backplate image that you want to compare with the first one.
The image is added to the switcher. Note:
If you load more than three images,
the lowest entry is removed.
- Optional:
Tap the thumbnail of the image you want to see in more detail in the preview. Make
sure that at the end the image is selected, that you want to use to create the new
ambience with.
- Optional:
Activate the Background switch.

In the scenes panel, tap the arrow in the
lower right corner of the scene thumbnail you created the ambience for.

You can create ambiences from the home page of tablet devices in a similar way as for desktop devices, by dragging the HDR or 2D
backplate from 3DDrive to the app.
