Importing 3D XML Files

You can import locally stored 3D XML files and those from 3DDrive to a collaborative space of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Depending on the content of the imported 3D XML file, you can load products, ambiences, or realtime experiences into xStudio.

  1. To open the Import 3D XML dialog box, do one of the following:
    • From the home page, click Import , or drag a 3D XML from 3DDrive.
    • From an open Experience, drag a 3D XML in the viewer.
    • From the action bar, click Import 3D XML File .
The Import 3D XML dialog box opens.
  2. Click Browse to select the local 3D XML file you want to import.

If you dragged the 3D XML from 3DDrive, it is already specified.

The name of the selected file is shown.
  3. Specify how you want to save the 3D XML in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

Note: This distinction is only relevant for files that already exist in the database.

    • As New saves the 3D XML in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform as a copy with a new internal ID, new business rules, and lifecycles. Already existing files are not overwritten.
    • As Reference imports the 3D XML, overwriting files that already exist in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform with the same name and internal ID.
  4. Under Location, select the collaborative space in which you want to save the file.

Note: You can specify a new collaborative space only when you perform a 3D XML import from the home page of xStudio.

  5. Click OK.

The specified 3D XML file is saved in the defined collaborative space of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

To open its content in xStudio, see Open an Experience from 3DSearch, or Inserting Products, or Inserting Ambiences.

Note: You can only open or insert supported content types in xStudio, see Predefined Queries.
