Customizing the EIN-Triggered Business Rule

As an administrator, you can customize the Enterprise Item Number post process business rule to invoke a custom action whenever users assign enterprise item numbers (EIN) to an object.

Note: Create the Enterprise Item Number post process business rule configuration only in the Data Setup app. Do not use other apps.

Before you begin:
  • Before modifying any Enterprise Item Number post process rule, upgrade the existing resource set. For more information, see Upgrade the Existing Resource Set.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Knowledge Language (EKL).
  • Access to the Data Setup app in CATIA.

Upgrade the Existing Resource Set

If you have defined an enterprise business rule in a previous release of Engineering Release, upgrade the existing resource set before creating any Enterprise Item Number post process rule. You need to do this only once after upgrading.

  1. In Data Setup, select the Resources Tables tab.
  2. In the Resource Tables tab, right-click the existing Resource Set and select Upgrade the selected Resource Table.

Configure the EIN-Triggered Business Rule

After you upgrade the existing resource set, you can modify the "Enterprise Item Number post process" business rule with your own code.

  1. In Data Setup, select the Resources Tables tab.
  2. In the table, right-click Engineering Release Resources and create a new resource set. The Enterprise Item Number post process business rule appears in the resource table.
  3. Customize the business rule using your own EKL code.
  4. Drag the business rule from the resource table into the required collaborative space and save the data.
  5. Right-click the business rule and select Deploy to the server.
