Locking Products

You can lock products that you own to prevent other users from modifying them. You can either lock the product reference or an instance in a child product list.

Note: You cannot lock/unlock an instance if the instance and its root product were created in either CATIA V5 or SOLIDWORKS.

Required Access Roles:

  • Baseline: Leader or Administrator
  • App-specific: Owner or user of the product

Determine Whether a Product Is Locked

You can see whether a product is locked.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Open the product whose lock status you want to view.
    • Open the parent product for the child whose lock status you want to view.
  2. Do one of the following:

    1. Click Information and select the Properties tab.
    2. Refer to Locked By.
    Determine Lock Status of a Reference Child Product
    1. Open the parent product.
    2. In the child product list, refer to the Lock column.
      • The child product is unlocked.
      • You locked the child product.
      • Another user has locked the child product.
      • To see who has locked it, refer to Locked By in the Properties tab of the Information panel.
    The lock statuses of instances do not appear in the list. However, you can group the instances based on the lock owner using the Group By command.
    Determine Status of a Product on the Home Screen
    1. Click .
    2. Select either My Products or Recent Products.
    3. Hover over the product thumbnail. The pop-up includes the lock status.

Lock a Product

You can lock a product by reference or selected instances. For information, see About Locked Products.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Navigate to My Products.
    • Navigate to Recently Opened.
    • Open a product to lock.
    • Open the product that includes the child to lock.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To lock one or more child products, select them in the list. Then click in the product list toolbar.
    • For an open product, click in its identity card.
  3. In the menu, click the Lock command. If you select a child product, the Lock dialog box opens.

    You can also right-click to select the Lock command.

  4. If you select a child product, choose either Reference, Instance, or both in the Lock dialog box. Otherwise, skip this step.

    To lock multiple child products, select them from the list, and click Lock in the Multiselection menu in the toolbar.For child reference products, in the Lock column indicates that the child is locked. The lock status of instance products does not appear.

Unlock a Product

You can unlock selected objects that were previously locked so that other users can work on them. To unlock a product, you must be either the owner, the user who locked it, or have the Leader or Administrator role. You can unlock the reference, the instance, or both.

  1. Click next to the name of the product. For an open product, click in its identity card.
  2. In the menu, click the Unlock command. If you select a child product, the Lock dialog box opens.

    You can also right-click and select Unlock.

  3. To unlock a child product, clear either Reference, Instance, or both in the Lock dialog box. Otherwise, skip this step.
