Creating a Product Configuration

You cn can create one or more product configurations for a model version.


Before you begin: Open the model version. For more information, see Opening a Model Version.
  1. Select the Product Configurations tab.
  2. To create a product configuration, from the page toolbar, select New.
  3. Enter a title for the product configuration.
  4. Optional: Enter a description of the product configuration.
  5. Optional: To select an image for the new product configuration, do one of the following:
    OptionActions
    Drop imageDrop an image into the Image field.
    Upload Image
    1. Click Upload Image.
    2. Browse to, then select the image.
    3. Click Open.
  6. To create the product configuration, do one of the following:
    OptionAction
    Create a Single Product Configuration Click Create.
    Create Multiple Product Configurations Click Create another.

    Your product configuration is created. The dialog box remains open so that you can create another product configuration by changing the information.

  7. Open the product configuration. For more information, see Opening a Product Configuration.
  8. Use the key located at the upper left of the editor to guide you through completing the product configuration. For more information about the key, see Product Configuration Page.
  9. To select a value or option, do one of the following:
    ContextActions
    Tile View
    1. Click in the variant or option group field.
    2. Select a variant value or option.
    The selected variant value or option appears in the field.
    Note: Initially in Complete rule mode, all default selections have a icon, even if they are default based on a variant value or option definition or based on a rule. When you click in the field, a loader indicator appears over the list while the available values and options are updated based on any rules that are defined. The icon is replaced by the or icon, according to the rules that are applied.
    Data Grid View Click in a cell. The icon appears, indicating that it is selected.
  10. To validate a rule-enforced automatic or default selection, click the icon for a rule-enforced automatic or default selection.
    The value or option is now considered a user selection instead of a rule-enforced automatic or default selection. A required selection that has been validated is not automatically changed if the value or option to which it is linked by a rule is changed.
    • In Aided mode, when you validate a selected criteria that was automatically selected or is selected by default, the or icon is removed and the selection is treated as user-selected criteria instead of automatically selected criteria.
    • In Complete mode, when you validate a selected criteria that was automatically selected for completeness, the icon is removed and the selection is treated as user-selected criteria instead of automatically selected criteria.
  11. To reject a selection, do one of the following:
    ContextActions
    Tile View Click on the right side of the selection field.
    Data Grid View Click on the right side of the selection cell.
  12. Click Save.

Note: You can successfully save a product configuration that has conflicts and missing mandatory selections. Resolve all conflicts and make all mandatory selections before you complete a product configuration for the model version.
