About Adapter for X-PDM

Both the Gateway Servers implement the Event Bus, which enables asynchronous bi-directional data exchange between the 3DEXPERIENCE platform server and external PDM or ERP systems also known as X-PDM server(s).

Communication between different systems involves:

  • Events conveyed by http protocol.
  • Files (metadata files in XPDMXML format and bulk data files) conveyed by FTP, SFTP or UNC protocol through a File Server.

During the installation process you are asked to choose the kind of exchange that enables: Enable Engineering Exchanges option or Enable E-BOM Exchanges option. Adapter for X-PDM is connecting sites together. But, if you select the Enable Engineering Exchanges option the exchange also involves at least one additional machine: the Batch Server, which corresponds to a Native app setup.
