Installing the Software

You can run the global 3DEXPERIENCE platform installer to perform an all-in-one installation. All the services selected at the beginning of the installation procedure will be installed, one by one, on the current machine.

Note: To install the software in silent mode using the StartTUI program, you can retrieve the global UserIntentions.xml file, named UserIntentions_AM_3DEXP_Platform.media-date-time.xml, generated by the global 3DEXPERIENCE platform installer:
  • in /tmp, on Linux
  • in %TEMP% of the user with elevated privileges, on Windows.

For more information about how to install the software in silent mode, see DS Installer Guide: Launching the Installation - Install the Software in Silent Mode.

  1. Uncompress (unzip or untar) all the .tar files of the assembly media AM_3DEXP_Platform.AllOS.tar or mount the ISO images for the installation.
  2. Change to the directory:

    • AM_3DEXP_Platform.AllOS\1 on Windows
    • AM_3DEXP_Platform.AllOS/1 on Linux

  3. Start the installation:
    • Windows: double-click setup.exe for the GUI mode or use StartTUI.exe for the TUI mode
    • Linux: ./StartGUI.sh for the GUI, or ./StartTUI.sh

The installation starts, then a dialog box is displayed, containing a list of services that you may select for installation:

The following services are preselected and mandatory for an installation from scratch:

    • 3DPassport Service
    • 3DDashboard Service
    • 3DSearch (Federated Search Foundation)
    • 3DSpace Index
    • 3DSpace Service (contains 3DCompass and 6WTags)
    • 3DNotification Service
    • 3DComment Service
    • NETVIBES Exalead Cloudview
    • 3DSwym Service

and the following service is optional:

    • 3D Indexing Server

If one of the selected media is in another volume than the current one, you will be prompted to change the volume, except for the assembly media officially built by the release, if the volume directories (1, 2, etc.) are side-by-side, as expected. For example:

Please insert volume 2 of 10
or specify the path to its directory.

  4. To start the 3DPassport Service installation, click the Next button.

The 3DPassport media is launched and the welcome dialog box is displayed.

Follow the instructions of the media to complete the installation.

Note: If you cancel the installation of a media, you will be prompted to launch the installation again, continue with the next media installation or abort the global installation.

For more information, see Installation and Setup - Install - 3DEXPERIENCE Platform - Installing 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Services for the First Time - Installing Services One-by-One - 3DPassport Installation.

When the installation is complete, a dialog box is displayed containing the service installed.

Click Close to end the 3DPassport service installation.

  5. Check the 3DPassport service installation:
    1. Open your browser.
    2. Connect to the 3DPassport service by entering the service URL you provided during the 3DPassport installation. The URL syntax is https://passport_hostname.domain:port.
    3. On the login page, enter the administrator user name, by default admin_platform, and user password entered during 3DPassport installation.
If the 3DPassport service installation is successful, you will have access to the administration tools.
  6. Start the 3DDashboard Service installation.

For more information, see Installation and Setup - Install - 3DEXPERIENCE Platform - Installing 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Services for the First Time - Installing Services One-by-One - 3DDashboard Installation.

    Note:

You will not be prompted to specify the same parameters again during each service installation.

For example, if you selected the Embedded Server JRE, you will not be prompted to specify this parameter for the 3DDashboard and following services. You will not be prompted to specify again external and embedded TomEE information, the URLs of the services, the mail server name and the certificate location.

When the installation is complete, a dialog box is displayed containing the service installed.

Click Close to end the 3DDashboard service installation.

Note: You will not be able to test the 3DDashboard service installation because it relies on the presence of the 3DCompass which is installed as part of the 3DSpace service which you will install later.
  7. Start the 3DSearch (Federated Search Foundation) installation.

For more information, see Installation and Setup - Install - 3DEXPERIENCE Platform - Installing 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Services for the First Time - Installing Services One-by-One - 3DSearch Installation.

When the installation of the service is complete, a dialog box is displayed containing the service installed.

Click Close to end the 3DSearch installation.
