Static ColumnsThe three columns on the left of the formula grid are static (you cannot move or delete them), and have special purposes:
Calculated Value ColumnsWith a calculated column value, the calculation is performed on the wet weight values. For example, consider the following formula grid, shown schematically:
The ingredient Supplier Material A has a Wet Wt in the formula of 700 g. The chemist determines that Supplier Material A undergoes a processing loss of 20%. Therefore, Formulation Design calculates the Dry Wt of Supplier Material A to be 560 g — that is, 80% of 700 g. The Wet % value of 70 is the percentage of Supplier Material A in the formula before processing, based on the ingredient's wet weight. The Dry % value of 67.46988 represents the percentage of Supplier Raw Material A contributing to the formula total after processing loss. The Dry % is not calculated directly from the Dry Wt. This is because different ingredients can undergo different processing losses, and therefore their relative percentage contributions can change during processing. Instead, the Dry % is calculated from the total dry weight of the formula — that is, the sum of the dry weight of all ingredients in the formula.. Informational and Description ColumnsSome columns contain non-editable text that is supplied from the material and subtance properties in Materials Management and Materials Registration. For example, in the following formula grid, the Chemical Name is defined in the material properties. You cannot edit this value in Formulation Design. The Processing Note text is defined in the properties of the material.
