Manipulating Maps

You can manipulate the pathway model in the Map Area to organize the positions of entities, investigate their interactions, and add a cell background.

Organize Entities in the Map

You can find entities and change their positions in the map area for a pathway model.

  1. Use the mouse to manipulate and interrogate the pathway model.
    Mouse ActionDescription
    Left-click and drag. Moves the pathway model around the Map Area.
    Scroll (middle mouse button). Zooms in and out with respect to the center of the Map Area.
    Hover the cursor over an entity name. Displays a tooltip reporting the complete entity name and the number of associated annotations.
  2. To view the legend, click .
  3. With the Model Overview panel open and displaying the Entities tab, select an entity in the map area or the list.
    The selected entity highlights with a blue border in the Map Area and it is selected in the entities list.

Add a Cell Template Background

You can add a background to your pathway model, illustrating the possible shape of a cell.

  1. For an open pathway model, click in the toolbar.
  2. In the Pathway Information pane, select the Use cell template check box and close the panel.
    A semitransparent background of a cell displays for the pathway model.
  3. Click in the toolbar to activate the editing of the cell background.
  4. Drag the orange resize handles to adjust the cell background's size.
  5. Click the cell background and drag it to adjust its position.
  6. Click in the toolbar again to deactivate the editing of the cell background.
