  1. From the Modules section of the action bar, click Symbolic Input .

You can create, edit, and remove symbolic input interfaces using the Input option in the Module Structure Manager dialog box.

  2. In the Symbolic Input dialog box, under Input Definition, do the following:
    1. In the Name box, specify a name for the symbolic input interface.
    2. In the Location box, specify the module where the input interface is to be created.

    Notes:
    • A symbolic link is possible only between the symbolic interfaces that are on the same level of modules with the same ancestor.
    • To link an input interface from a third-level module with an output interface from a second-level module, use delegations.
    • A delegation of an input interface runs from top to bottom in the tree.

  3. Under Pointed interface, do the following:
    1. In the Name box, specify the symbolic name of the pointed interface.

Click to select a pointed interface.

    2. In the Location box, specify the name of the module that contains the interface.

Click to select the pointed interface location.

  4. Click OK.
    An input interface is created.
Note: When a symbolic interface is created, a symbolic link is automatically verified for the input interface and the output interface that depends on the symbolic path name of the input interface. If this link is found, it is created automatically. This is called as name matching.
