Files Associated with an Object

Many types of objects can have files checked in or connected to them.

Required access roles: All. If you have access to an object, you have access to related files.

To access this page:

  1. View a page that lists the required object.
  2. Click in the row for the object.

    The quick file access icon does not display if the object does not have any files or if the object on that row does not support quick file access.

Column Name Description
The icon appears if the file is locked.
File Name The name of the file. You can click to view the file's properties. See File Properties Page.
Ver The file version identifier. Clicking the version identifier shows file versioning information. See File Versions Page.
Modified The date and time that the file was last modified.
File Type The type of file.
Contained In The object that contains this file. You can click the link to view the properties of the object that this file is checked into.
Actions The allowable actions you can perform on a file:

View

To view the file in a registered viewer.

Download

Download one or more files to your local machine. If the icon appears below the download icon, the file is locked from being downloaded. Navigate to the folder or directory you want to contain the file.

This icon toggles between download and update depending on the state of the file.

Check Out and Lock

Check out one or more files to your local machine and lock the files from other users who cannot unlock it. Navigate to the folder or directory you want to contain the file.

Update

Update a file you had previously checked out for editing which may have changed since checkout, navigate to the folder or directory that contains the file.



Unlock

Unlocks the file, if locked.

Lock

Locks the file, if unlocked. When files are checked out for editing, they are always locked to prevent simultaneous editing.

File Size The size of the file.
Format The format of the file.
