Importing and Exporting a Template

You can import or export a template to create a new template instead of creating template from the beginning.

This task shows you how to:

Opening a Template

Importing a Template

You can import a predefined template using Import Template option. You can only import a template only if it is exported at the same level.

  1. From the page toolbar of Templates page , click Import Template.
  2. You can do one of the following:
    • File: Select the file to be imported.
    • Auto Name: Select the check box and the templates that have AutoName will be imported.

    The file will not be imported if one of the following exceptions occurs:

    • If the file is not an .xml file.
    • If XML does not have the version information.
    • If version in the XML does not match the current system version.
    • In case of any other system exceptions.
    Note: The imported template is in the same state in which the exported template is.

  3. Click Done.

The selected file is imported.

Exporting a Template

You can export a template only if the templates are in Preliminary, Released, or Obsolete states.

  1. From the template list, select one or more templates.
  2. From the page toolbar of Templates page , click the Export Template command.

The selected templates are exported as an XML file.
