Filtering a Catalog or Chapter

You can explain how to filter a catalog in the Design IP Classification app.

For example, if a catalog contains a large number of entities, one of the most effective ways of finding the entities is to narrow down the selected objects by means of the keywords that were initially used for creating the catalog.

Before you begin: Open a catalog or a chapter in the Design IP Classification app.
  1. Select a catalog or chapter.
  2. To filter the available content, you can do one of the following:
    • Select Filter from the Edit section of the action bar.
    • Right click the catalog or chapter of your choice, and select Catalog > Filter or Chapter > Filter.
    The Catalog Filter dialog box appears.

    The results available in the right-hand section of the dialog box lists the entire content of the catalog or chapter if no conditions have been defined.

    Note: As you add conditions to the filter, the results are immediately modified accordingly.

  3. To display only the chapters or the items, clear the Items or Chapters check box respectively.
  4. To activate recursive display mode, click .
    The mode changes to the Recursive mode. All the keywords recursively inherited by the chapter or item are available in the keyword selection list accordingly.
  5. To activate direct display mode, click .
    The mode changes to the Direct mode. Only the keywords available under the chapter are available in the keyword selection list.

  9. To view the search results in different modes, you can do the following:
    • Click Details .

      The search results are listed in the Details mode.

    • Click Tiles .

      The search results are listed in the Tiles mode.

    • Click Thumbnails .

      The search results are listed in the Thumbnails mode.

  10. To replace the current catalog tree with a selected set of result items, click Collapse and Explore.
  11. To add a selected set of result items to the current catalog tree, click Explore.
  12. To exit the Catalog Filter, click Close.
