Add a New Data Perspective
Click Create Data Perspective.
A newly created data perspective:
- Has a creation date.
- Displays at the top of the list of data perspectives (if any).
- Has the focus automatically (the selected data perspective card has a blue border).
Switch Between Edit, View, and Preview Modes
A data perspective has 3 different modes.

You can edit the data perspective, that is add, delete or edit screens, visualizations

Once you have opened a data perspective in Edit mode, you can use the Preview to
display your screens.

View |
You cannot edit the data perspective in View mode, only browse through its screens.

Open a Data Perspective in Edit Mode
You can open a data perspective that you own in Edit mode by:
- Clicking
on the
right side of the data perspective card.

- Or double-clicking a data perspective card in the list of data perspectives.
Preview Your Data Perspective
When a screen is selected, you can switch from the Edit mode to the Preview mode. This is useful to verify the behavior and the look and feel of your screens in context.
Note:
When you select the Preview, a Save action is performed in the background.

In the right panel, click
Preview.
- Optional:
If your data perspective contains several screens, you can select them through a list on
the left of the Preview panel.
Note:
At any time, you can click to go back
to Edit mode.
Open a Data Perspective in View Mode
You can open all data perspectives in View mode by clicking  in the data perspective card.
Note:
You can switch from View to Edit mode only if you are the data perspective owner.
Rename a Data Perspective

Select an data perspective.

In the header of the right panel, click the data perspective name to edit it.

To save the new name, click
Enter or click outside of the input.
The new name displays in the data perspective card in the list and in the right panel.
Add a Description to a Data Perspective
It is often useful to add a description to the data perspective to indicate what is its use and goal.

Select a data perspective.

In the right panel, go to the Details tab and click the Description to edit it.

To save the new description, click outside of the input.
The new description displays in the data perspective card in the list and in the right panel.
Share a Data Perspective
You can share any data perspective that you own.

In the data perspective list, select the data perspective you want to share.

In the right panel, go to the Members tab.
You are the only member in the list.

Click
.

In the search field, enter the name of the member that you want to add.
Note:
As soon as you have entered 2 characters, a list of suggestions appears to help you select a member.
The member name is added below your name. The UI says that this member Can read your data perspective (that is, in read-only mode).
When someone shares an data perspective:
- This data perspective displays in the list of data perspectives of the added members.
- The data perspective is accessible in View mode only.
- The Members tab is not available.
Remove the Access to a Data Perspective
You can remove the access to a data perspective that you share with other members.

In the list, select the data perspective you want to unshare with members.

In the right panel, go to the Members tab.

Next to the member that you want to remove, click
and Remove access.
Publish a Data Perspective Version Manually
You can choose the data perspective version that you share with other members in View
mode.
By default, Data Perspective Studio publishes your data perspective automatically once you save it. You can turn it off if you
want to choose the data perspective version to publish manually.
Before you begin: You have created a data perspective, switched to Edit mode, and performed several
actions.

From the left panel, select
Settings.

Turn off Activate auto-publish.
In the History table, the
Actions column displays the current version as
Live.

Below History, scroll to the configuration you want to
publish.

In the
Actions column, click Publish on a saved
configuration version.
The members you shared your data perspective with, can now see the published
version.
Export and Import a Data Perspective
Data Perspective Studio provides you export and import capabilities to manage the versions of your data
perspectives.
You can import a data perspective for the following use cases:
- Use case 1: Import a data perspective in a new environment. You can import a data perspective in
a new Data Perspective Studio without data perspectives.
- Use case 2: Import a new version of an existing data perspective, to review and validate
this new version, and then publish it (see Publish a Data Perspective Version Manually). You can replace an existing data perspective if you are the owner of this
data perspective.
- Use case 3: Import an existing data perspective to duplicate it.
- Use case 4: Add the imported version as the new data perspective version, and keep the
existing data perspective version in history.

To export any data perspective, click
Export on the right side of the data perspective card.
Data Perspective Studio exports a zip file containing all your data perspective configuration files.

To import a data perspective:

Click the down arrow next to Create Data Perspective, then
click
Import Data Perspective.

From your file system, select the data perspective .zip file to import.
If the data perspective you want to import already exists in your Data Perspective Studio, a dialog box appears to let you choose what you want to do:

Overrides the existing data perspective version by the imported data perspective.

Append |
Keeps the history of the existing data perspective version, and adds the imported
data perspective as the new version. You can rollback to a previous version.

Create new |
Keeps the existing data perspective version, and adds the imported data perspective
with another id.

Note:
To see the data perspective versions, go to
Settings and look at the table in the
History section.
Delete a Data Perspective
You can only delete data perspectives on which you have owner rights.

In the list, hover over the data perspective you want to delete, and click
.

Click Delete Data Perspective.
