Creating and Connecting an Array of Connectors

You can create an array of connectors and connect this array to another connector.

Important: The connector must be editable. You cannot edit a connector on a standard component from for example Modelica Standard Library.

This task shows you how to:

Create an Array of Connectors

You can create an array of connectors. In this scenario you connect electrical pins.

  1. From the p connector of a resistor, create a new connector pin_p. See Step 1 - Step 4 in Use Direct Connection.
  2. Select this new connector from the Component Browser or from the diagram.
  3. Select Edit Component Parameters from the context toolbar.
    The Component Parameters Edition dialog box appears.
  4. In the General tab, Component area Name box, enter a number between brackets to indicate the number of connectors you need for your array. For this scenario, type [4] after pin_p.
    The Name is now pin_p[4].
  5. Click OK to close the Component Parameters Edition dialog box.
    Your connector is now an array of 4 connectors.

Connect an Array of Connectors

You can connect an array of connectors to another connector.

  1. Drag from a connector.

    Tip: To display the connectors´name in the diagram layer, from the Diagram section of the action bar, click Show Connector Names .

    A connection line appears and follows the cursor.
    Tip: For possible actions when drawing the connection line, see Step 2 in Use Direct Connection.
  2. Select the connector which you want to create a connection to.

    Tip: if you click anywhere on a component, the closest compatible connector for connection is selected.

    The Connection dialog box is displayed.

    The dialog box has one pane for each connector.

    The connect statement at the bottom of the dialog box shows which connectors are used to form the connection.

  3. Use the arrows in the connect statement to select the connectors which are used to form the connection.
    In this example both connectors are arrays and a connection has been made between connector 2 of pin_p and connector 5 of pin_n.

  4. When finished, click OK.
    • The connection is created.
    • The Connection dialog box closes.
