Creating a Connection to a Functional or Logical Port or Interface

You can create a connection between behavior ports or connectors and functional or logical ports or interfaces.

Note: Connecting to subconnectors are only supported by interfaces.

Create a Connection to a Functional or Logical Port

You can create a connection between behavior ports or connectors and functional or logical ports.

Before you begin: In this scenario, you connect a connector (from the conductor component) to a logical port (Port 1). Connecting to a functional port is identical.
  1. Drag from a connector.

    Tip: To display the connectors´name in the diagram layer, from the Diagram section of the action bar, click Show Connector Names .

    A connection line appears and follows the cursor.
    Tip: For possible actions when drawing the connection line, see Step 2 in Use Direct Connection.
  2. Select Port 1 to create the connection.

    Tip: if you click anywhere on a component, the closest compatible connector for connection is selected.

    The connection is created.

    Warning: When connected to a behavior port, the functional or logical port inherits the behavior port type (a positive type in our example). It cannot be connected later to a port with another type.

Create a Connection to a Logical Interface

You can create a connection between behavior ports or connectors and functional or logical interfaces.

Before you begin: In this scenario, you connect a connector (from the integrator component) to a subtype (cmd_5) of a logical interface. Connecting to a functional interface is identical.
  1. Drag from a connector.
    A connection line appears and follows the cursor.
    Tip: For possible actions when drawing the connection line, see Step 2 in Use Direct Connection.
  2. Click the interface.
    A Connection dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select cmd_5.
  4. Click OK.
    The connection is completed.

    Warning: When connected to a behavior port, the functional or logical interface (subtype) inherits the behavior port type. It cannot be connected later to a port with another type.
