Creating Baselines

You can create a baseline for an existing structure from X-CAD Design Management.


Before you begin:

Search for the object you want to baseline and open the Navigate page of the revision object for the design (see Editing Object Relationships).

Opening a Baseline
  1. In the navigate page, check all the objects in the structure and click Actions > Baseline.
    The Baseline page appears
  2. Enter the following details:

    FieldDescription
    Baseline NameEnter a name for the baseline. By default, a baseline name is suggested in the format, <Design Name>-<User Name>-<DateStamp>.
    Baseline DescriptionEnter a description for the baseline.
    ViewSelect the view filter for the baseline.
    Note: The AsBuilt view is selected by default. You can select the views from the provided list.

  3. Click Submit.

    If all the objects in the structure are not selected an error message appears.

    A baseline is created for the structure. The icon under the Alerts column in the Navigate page indicates that the design is part of a baseline.

    Note: Note the following:
    • The baseline is created for the root object and is expanded to all levels of the object as per the selected view.
    • You cannot create a baseline if any objects in the structure contains a renamed object, cloned object, a revision of a cloned object, pending structure change in the object, or an object created from a template.

      You must open and save the objects to create a baseline.

    • The baseline is created for the structure of an active instance of an object.
