Profile Attribute Definitions in an XML File

The following topics discuss:

For the profile manufacturing process, two XML's can create:

• Profile data XML: This contains the information related to the profile.
• Profile IBC: This contains the information on the profile bending curve.

Profile data XML contains the information required to nest, mark, and cut the profiles on a machine. It contains the information under separate tags in the XML:

• Design Information
• Manufacturing Information

The Profile inverses bending curves XML contains all the information required for bending of the profile on the machine, under these tags in the XML:

• Sag Points
• Points required to plot the curve.

The generated XML's do not version. Whenever there is a change in design or manufacturing of the profile, 3D IPM synchronizes and then profile XMLs needs generating again.

Attributes:

• Version: The application level.
• User: The creator of the XML.
• Units: The units used.
• Date: date of generation of the XML.
• Time: Time of generation of XML.

Product

This contains the product information under these attributes:

• Title: The title of the product.
• Name: The Name of the product.
• Revision: The revision of the product.
• LastModification: The last modification date and time of the product.
• Description: The description available for the product.

Profile

This contains the profile information under these attributes:

• Category: The category of the profile.
• Support: The support of the profile.
• Material: The material applied on the profile.
• Density: The density of the material of the profile.
• CuttingLength: The cutting length of the profile.
• Weight: The weight of the profile.
• BSU Location: Start and End, which is exported under the Location attribute in the Burnside up (BSU) node.
  
  
• Flange Orientation of a profile: Up or Down is exported in Flange Orientation attribute of BSU node in the profile XML.

  Determine the Flange orientation from the +H direction of profile section definition. It can be toward the right or toward the left when;

  • The profile face (Start face/End face) view is normal.
  • BSU Y direction is upward.
  
  
  

  Flange orientation direction is exported to profile XML as Up or Down.

  • If the flange orientation direction is toward the right, the flange orientation is exported to XML as Up
  • If the flange orientation is toward the left side, the flange orientation is exported to XML as Down.

  Flange orientation computes for the face of the profile on locating BSU. If BSU is located at the start, the flange orientation at the start face of the profile exports to XML. Here theBSU is located at the Start. Determine the flange orientation on the starting face of the profile.

  
  
  

  The flange orientation for the start face is toward the right when viewed normally (with BSU Y upward), so the flange orientation is exported to XML as Up.
  
  

  Similarly, if the BSU is located at the end, the flange orientation direction for the end face of the profile exports to XML.

  
  
  

  Here the flange orientation of the end face of the profile exports to the profile XML. The flange orientation is toward the left when viewed normally (with BSU Y upward), so the flange orientation is exported to XML as Down.
  
  

EndCuts

This contains the information of the end cuts present in the profile:

• Start: This section details the end cut information present at the start of the profile.
• End: This section details the end cut information present at the end of the profile.

The below attributes are available for the end cut at start or end for the profile XML:

• Template: This contains the Name attribute, which denotes the name of the template used for the end cut.
• Parameters: The parameters of the end cut present.
• Position: The position coordinates of the end cut.

Openings

This contains the information on openings present in the profile. The Opening section and has these attributes:

• Name: Name of the opening.
• Type: The type of the opening.
• COG: COG of the opening is relative to the position of the BSU, COG of the opening-position of the BSU in the context of the Global Axis.

• Standard Attributes for standard opening:
  • ContourName: Name of the contour used.
  • ContourType: The type of the contour type.
  • The parameters available for the contour. For example Str_Width, and Str_Height for the Str_Oblong contour.
• Sketch: For sketch openings, the information present in the OutputProfile for the sketch opening:
  • Sketch Information: The sketch on which the OutputProfile is created has these tags:
    • RootPoint: The origin point for the sketch. This has X, Y, and Z attributes denoting the origin point of the sketch.
    • H Axis: The horizontal axis direction. This has the X, Y, and Z attributes denoting the direction of the horizontal axis for the sketch.
    • V Axis: The vertical axis direction. This has the X, Y, and Z attributes denoting the direction of vertical axis for the sketch.
  • Geometry: The geometry information of the OutputProfile. This lists the output geometries in the same sequence as present in the OutputProfile of the sketch for sketch-based opening.

    

    • Geometry can contain Arc, Curve, or Line. Below listed are the attributes for these 3 geometries:

      Arc: This contains the start point, middle point, end point, origin, and radius value.

      Curve: This contains all the control points defined for the curve.

      Line: This contains the start point and end point of the line.

    • Each point that defines the Arc, Curve, or Line, has these attributes:

      ID: the ID of the point.

      H: the H value, measured along the H direction of the sketch. The value is based on the local coordinate system of the sketch.

      V: The V value, measured along the V direction of the sketch. The value is based on the local coordinate system of the sketch.

Slots

This contains information on the slots present in the profile. For each slot present in the profile, there is a Slot section having these attributes:

• Name: The name of the slot.
• Type: The type of the slot.
• Attributes related to the type of the slot, example ContourName, BOTC, and others for BULB slot type.

Process

This contains the product information under these attributes:

• Title: The title of the manufactured part.
• Name: The Name of the manufactured part.
• Revision: The revision of the manufactured part.
• Last Modification: The last modification date and time of the part.
• Description: The description of the part.

MarkingLines

This contains the information on the marking lines present in the profile manufacturing process under these attributes:

• Name: The name of the marking line feature.
• Type: The type of the marking line.
• LineType: The line type of the marking line.
• LineThickness: The line thickness of the marking line.

Openings

This contains all the opening preparations present in the profile manufacturing process. The attributes present for each opening preparation in the profile manufacturing process:

• Name: The name of the opening preparation
• Type: The type of the opening preparation
• Design Name: The design name of the opening
• Additional attributes as present for the type of opening preparation (Like LineType, LineThickness for Marked opening)

Margins

This contains the margins present in the profile manufacturing process. These nodes are present based on the presence of margin on the profile:

• StartFace This contains the margin information at the start face of the profile under the below tags:
  • Web: Margin at web start
  • Flange: Margin at flange start
• EndFace: If the margin at the end of the web of profile is present:
  • Web: Margin at web end
  • Flange: Margin at flange end
• BottomFace: Margin at the bottom of a profile

Each margins attribute:

• AddedMaterial: The positive margin
• FitUp: The negative margin

EdgePreparation

This contains the edge preparations present in the profile manufacturing process. These nodes are present based on the presence of edge preparation on the profile:

• WebStartFace- If edge preparation at the start of the profile is present.
• WebEndFace - If edge preparation at the end of the web of profile is present.
• FlangeStartFace - If edge preparation at start of flange of profile is present.
• FlangeEndFace- If edge preparation at end of flange of profile is present.
• BottomFace- If edge preparation at bottom of profile is present.

Each node contains the below attributes based on whether edge preparations are present or not:

• BevelName: If the name of the bevel used in the edge preparation
• EdgePrepSide: The edge preparation side. For example:Molded.
• Root_Gap: The root gap for the edge preparation.

• Name: The name of the slot.
• Type: The type of the slot.
• Attributes related to the type of the slot (like ContourName, BOTC and others for BULB slot type)

The Sketch opening information in the profile XML.

Profile IBC Inverse Bending Curve

The Profile IBC XML contains the following information:

General Information: This contains general information with these attributes:

• Time: Time of creation of the profile IBC XML.
• Date: Date of creation of the profile IBC XML.
• Units: The units used.
• User: The user responsible for the creation of the XML.
• Version: The version of the application.

  Curve: This section contains the information of the individual curves of the IBC. It contains the below tags:

  • Point: This section contains the individual point that lies on the curve. The attributes in this tag:
    • ID: The ID of the point.
    • X: The X coordinate of the point.
    • Y: The Y coordinate of the point.
  • MaxSag: If a sag point exists in the curve, this tag is available. This tag contains the attributes to define the sag point:
    • ID: The ID of the sag point.
    • X: The X coordinate of the sag point.
    • Y: The Y coordinate of the sag point.

This shows a snapshot of the profile IBC XML.

Layer Information to Plate and Profile in Resulting XML

The generated plate/profile XML does not have layer information of the annotation text. Through this, the layer information of annotation text exports in the plate/profile XML.

The layer information of the annotation texts is exported in the ‘Layer’ node added under the ‘Font’ node of the Text.
