Associating a Representation with a Manufacturing Fastener

You can associate a representation with the manufacturing fasteners of an instruction set. This allows you to visualize better how manufacturing fasteners are set during simulation.

A representation is made of one or more sections. Each section corresponds to one or two parameters (diameter and length).

Notes:
  • The representation is not taken into account during collision detection.
  • The representation is not taken into account if the manufacturing fastener is linked to a design fastener. In this case, the representation specific to the design fastener is taken into account only.

Before you begin: Display the instruction sets in the Manufacturing View panel by right-clicking the header in the panel and selecting Sort by Instruction Set.

  1. In the Manufacturing View panel, double-click an instruction set.
  2. In the Instruction Set dialog box, click Visibility Action in the Actions area.
  3. In the Visibility dialog box, click Define a 3D Representation for the Fastener .
  4. In the Fastener 3D Representation dialog box, create a section:
    1. Enter a value in the Diameter box to specify the diameter.
    2. Enter a value in the Length box to specify the length.

Alternatively, you can select existing diameter and length parameters of the instruction set in the Diameter and Length lists.

    3. Optional: Click the Color box and select a color to apply.
  5. Click Add Section to create the section.
The section appears in the dialog box.

  6. Optional: Repeat the steps above to create other sections, and choose an item in the Location list to define where to position the other sections with respect to the first one.
  7. Click OK to validate the representation.

The defined representation appears on each manufacturing fastener during simulation.

Tips:
  • To edit the diameter and length of a section, either enter a new value in the Diameter and Length boxes or drag the points that appear on the section in the direction you want.
  • To collapse the Color area, click the color box.
