Editing the Structure

Editing the structure involves switching to the Structure View and combining the Drag and Drop capability, the Smart Level Selector, and the context toolbar commands to explore and rearrange the product structure.

Important: The standard structure view allows you to navigate the product structure at the product level. Similarly, Experience Models Preparation allows you to navigate the product structure but also to navigate the 3D representation structure level including the geometrical sets inside 3D representations that can also be dragged and dropped. Every product from the Experience Models Preparation product structure is visible in the structure view (formerly turntable view).

Switch to Structure View

You must switch to structure view to edit the product structure.

A 3D Design-Structure View switch is available in the Data Preparation action bar.

  1. To access the context toolbar of interest, click Structure View .
    The structure view is activated.
  2. To switch back to the 3D Design view, click Structure view.

Delete a Product

You can delete a product within the product structure.

  1. Select the product to delete.
  2. Select Delete.

    Tip: Alternatively, press the Delete key.

The product is deleted from the product structure.

Move a Product

You can move a product within the product structure of the prepared model to define new groups of products.

  1. Select the product you want to move either selecting the 3D icon or the turntable platter.
  2. To cut the selected product and paste it in another product, drag the product towards the product of interest and release the mouse (drop) when satisfied. Alternatively, use one of the following techniques:
    • Right-click the product, and select Cut > Paste in the context menu.
    • Press CRTL+X, then CTRL+V.
    • Select Cut and Paste from the standard area.

The product is moved accordingly.

Insert a New Prepared Product

You can insert a new prepared product to edit the product structure of the current prepared model.

  1. Click the turntable platter and select the destination turntable.

  2. Click Insert New Product in the context toolbar.

    Warning: You cannot insert a new prepared product in a representation or in multiple products at a time.

The product is inserted at the selected level and saved as a prepared product in the database.

Note: The created prepared product is applied the same design range as its direct parent product. For more information, see Experience Models Preparation.
