Creating Resultant Sensors

You can create a resultant sensor from native simulation data. Native simulation data is results data produced directly from simulations performed in 3DEXPERIENCE apps. Resultant sensors are available in Structural Validation only for structural analyses.

Feature Manager
  1. From the Results section of the action bar, click Create Resultant Sensor .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Click Select to specify a support type; for example, Loads or Restraints.
  4. From the Selection List editor that appears, select one or more items, and click OK.

Note: Only a subset of the loads and restraints in your results are eligible for selection as supports for a resultant sensor. For a list of eligible loads and restraints, see Eligible Support Types for Resultant Sensors.

  5. Click OK to close the Selection List editor.
  6. Select an Axis system:
    OptionDescription
Global The origin of the global axis is used as the center for computing the sensor values.
Results axis system The origin of the results axis system (created in Physics Results Explorer) is used as the center for computing the sensor values.
Model Axis system The origin of the model axis system (created in the model apps) is used as the center for computing the sensor values. You can select the model axis system from the tree or in the 3D model.
Normal and tangential The centroid (accounting for force distribution) of the selected support is used for computing the sensor values.

Note: Axis selection is not available when you select connector sections as supports.

  7. Select Show glyph to show the glyphs for forces and moments in the model.
  8. Click OK.

The tree and the Feature Manager display the Total Force, Total Moment, and the X, Y, and Z components of forces and moments.
