Creating Points Using Projection

You can create projection points of an element on a line.

Create a Point Using Projection

You can create projection points of an element on a line.

  1. Multi-select the elements you want to project onto the line.
    • Use the Ctrl key before selecting Projection Point .
    • Move the pointer if the command is already activated.


  2. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Projection Point .
  3. Select the line.
    The projection points and construction lines are created.

    Notes:
    • The points that are projected are perpendicular to the last selected element, provided that this element is a line.
    • Both the selected points and the projected points are associative with the construction lines that are also created. A construction line is created between the original points and the projected ones.
    Tip: The constraints appear on the condition that Geometrical Constraints is selected from the Sketch section of the action bar.

Create Associative Projected Points

You can create associate projected points.

  1. Create a spline and points.
  2. Click Projection Point .

    Tools Palette displays two projection options:

    • Orthogonal Projection (default mode)

    • Projection Along a Direction

  3. To project points onto the spline in the direction normal to the curve.
    1. Select Orthogonal Projection .
    2. Select several points.
    3. Select the spline.


    All the selected points have been projected onto the spline according to a normal direction at this curve.



  4. To project the points along the given direction:
    1. Select Projection Along a Direction .
    2. Select a point.
    3. Select the spline.
    The selected point is projected along the given direction.
