About Change Templates

A change template is a pre-defined change process that lets you create change orders using default values. This ensures completeness of the change order and change consistency throughout the product development process. Change orders created from the change template inherit the attributes defined in the change template.

Important: Change templates are not considered strategic and hence are not shown by default. Your Business Administrator can activate the use of change templates by using the step mentioned in the Change Management Administration Guide.

Change Administrators can create change templates with scope of either Personal or Enterprise. All others can create only personal change templates for their own use.

A change order created from a change template has its fields pre-filled based on the selected change template. The change template lifecycle includes Active and Inactive states. Only Active change templates can be used to create a change order.

If user-defined attributes are added/removed from a change template, change orders that are created based on that change template are updated.

Note: To create a change order using a change template, you must have access to the Collaborative Space in which the change template and the routes used in the template are located.
