Canceling a Change Order

You can cancel a change order (CO) that you own any time before the In Work state or if it is On Hold state. The CO initiator or Change Coordinator can cancel the CO before the Evaluation Review state (formal) or in the Draft state (fast track). .

  • Once the CO is canceled, routes and route templates are disconnected and all affected change actions (CA) are canceled.
  • Proposed items are not disconnected from canceled changes.
  • Assignees, distribution list members, the originator, contributors, Informed user list, the Approver list members, and owner are notified that the CO is canceled.
  • A canceled CO cannot be added as an agenda item under a meeting nor can it be added as an applicable item under a decision.
  • You cannot cancel a CO that is a prerequisite for another CO. A warning message is shown.
  • Decisions cannot be created or added to a canceled CO.
  • When a parent CO is canceled, all of its child COs and CAs are also canceled. A parent CO cannot be canceled if one or more of its child objects cannot be canceled.

Rules for Canceling a Change Order
  1. From the page toolbar of the CO Properties page, click Cancel.

    Field Description
    Warning This will halt the CO's lifecycle and end the change management process for its connected items. Enter a reason and click Done or click Cancel to enable the CO to continue through its lifecycle.
    Reason Explain why you are canceling the CO.

  2. Click Done.

The canceled CO becomes read-only, and archived. No updates are allowed.
