You can instantiate objects in the tree using a drag operation.

Searching for Objects
  1. To instantiate an object in a topology, drag the object onto the topology or the equivalent container node of the object.

For example, to instantiate an ECU, drag the ECU onto a topology or the ECUs node under the topology. Similarly, you can instantiate other objects like Actuators, Sensors, Electrical Devices, Others, Buses, and Wires. You can also instantiate an entire topology using the drag operation.

Note: You can instantiate multiple objects at the same time.

The dragged object is instantiated in the topology and its name is appended with the instance number. For example, the third instance of the ECU named LightController is represented as LightController.3 in the topology.
  2. To instantiate a function in another function, drag the source function to a target function.

Note: Functions can be instantiated at multiple levels.

  3. To instantiate an atomic software component or a software architecture, drag it onto a software architecture.

Note: Atomic software components and software architectures can be instantiated at multiple levels.

  4. To instantiate a system signal, drag it onto a matrix or a PDU.
