Creating Delegation Connections for Hardware Architecture

In a topology, you can create delegation connections from several starting points.

These delegation connections can be created from the context menus or from the topology view.

Create a Delegation Connection from a Topology

You can create a delegation connection between a topology and the EE components and subsystems that it contains.

Before you begin:
  • Create a topology.
  • Create at least one EE component or one subsystem with ports, and instantiate it in the topology.
  1. Right-click the topology and select Create Delegations .

    Tips: You can also, right-click the Connections node in the topology, and select Create Delegations .

    The Create Delegations dialog box appears. It contains the components and their ports that you can connect to the topology with delegation connections.
  2. To create delegation connections, select ports and click OK.

    Note: By default, all the connections are selected.

For each connection to be created, a topology port is created in the topology. These ports are connected to the ports of the EE components or the ports of the subsystems.

Create a Delegation Connection from an EE Component or from a Subsystem

You can create a delegation connection between an EE component or a subsystem and its parent topology. The scenario is presented for an EE component, but the behavior is the same for a subsystem.

Before you begin:
  • Create a topology.
  • Create an EE component with ports and instantiate it in the topology.
  1. Right-click the EE component in the topology and select Create Delegations in Parent Topology .
    The Create Delegations in Parent Topology dialog box appears. It contains the ports of the EE component that you can connect to the topology with delegation connections.
  2. To create delegation connections, select the ports.

    Note: By default, all the connections are selected.

For each connection to be created, a topology port is created in the topology. These ports are connected to the ports of the EE component.
