Managing Impacts on Cable Routes

You can use the Network Impact Assistant on Cable Route to identify how modifications made on your network can affect the route and the length of your cables.

  1. From the Cable section of the action bar, click Network Impact Assistant on Cable Route .
  2. In the tree, click an electrical physical system to analyze all its cables.

    Tip: You can also select:
    • An electrical branch geometry: only cables that are routed or partially routed in this electrical branch geometry are analyzed.
    • A device: only cables that are routed “From” or “To” this device are analyzed.
    • An equipment: only cables that are routed “From” or “To” this equipment are analyzed.
    • A branch: only cables that are routed or partially routed in this branch are analyzed.
    • A segment: only cables that are routed or partially routed in this segment are analyzed.

    The Impact Filter panel appears.
  3. In the panel, specify the criteria to be taken into account during the analysis:
    1. Under Cable Maturity, select a maturity status:

      Cable Maturity Description
Released The route of cables with a "Released" lifecycle maturity are analyzed.
In Work The route of cables with an "In Work" lifecycle maturity are analyzed.

    2. Under Route Maturity, select a maturity status:

      Route Maturity Description
Validated Cable routes that have a "Fully validated" status are analyzed.
In Revision Cable routes that have an "In revision" status are analyzed.
Not Validated Cable routes that have a "Not validated" status are analyzed.

    3. Under Rules for Impact Calculation, select one or several rules:

Checks are performed in the order of your selection.

      Available Rules Description
Length comparison Compares the validated length and the current computed length.
Route status comparison Compares the validated route status and the current computed route status.
Itinerary status comparison Compares the validated itinerary and the current computed itinerary.

      Tips:
      • Select the Stop at first impact found option to specify that the analysis stops when the first impact is found. By default, the option is cleared.
      • You can define your own checks using an opening ID. Customized impact rules are listed under Available Rules. For more information, see Compute Cable Network Impacts (EWR_ComputeCableNetworkImpacts).
Note: Customized checks can only be performed on cables with a "Fully validated" route status.

  4. Click Compute to start the analysis.
    • Impacted routes are listed in the Routing Assistant panel.
    • Impacts are described in two columns:
      Column Description
Impacts Indicates the impact state of the cable route.
Impacts Details Describes the source of the impact.

In the columns, the following icon indicates that attributes need to be updated: . To do so, select one of the update modes:

      Automatic update

Updates the attributes of all the listed cable routes.

      Manual update
