Routing Conductors Automatically

You can route the conductors and conductor groups, existing in the electrical physical systems in the session.

Before you begin:
Tip: Use a compatibility table to apply separation conditions when routing.

The Automatic Routing command can be customized with the business rules to validate segment selection and check the route's validity at the end.

  1. From the Conductors section of the action bar, click Automatic Routing .
  2. Select the electrical physical system containing the conductors and conductor groups you want to route.

The Conductor and Conductor group Routing dialog box appears listing existing conductors and conductor groups in the selected electrical physical system.

For the conductors and conductor groups available in the list, you get the following information:

    • Identifier
    • Type
    • From and To
    • Routed: whether the conductor or conductor group is routed or not
    • Route Status
    • External diameter
    • Bend radius
    • Separation code.
  3. Select one or more conductors and / or conductor groups or click Select All to route all listed conductors and conductor groups.
  4. Click Route.

The Conductor and Conductor Group Import Report dialog box appears giving you the status of the route (i.e. successful or not).

Note: Selecting the conductors in the report highlights the route in the 3D area.

    Tips:

    • You can route the conductors having distant links through an electrical branch. A distant connection between two the segments or between a segment and a device is possible. It means that the two entities are electrically linked but have distinct geometrical representations.

For more information about distant links, see Segment Connection.

    • You can route the conductors through the segments which are routed to the cavity of a device.

  5. Close the report.
  6. Click Close in the Conductor and Conductor Group Routing dialog box when done.
