Instantiating and Linking Conductors

You can map conductors inserted in the session to conductor references instantiated from the database.

Before you begin:
  • Insert conductors.
  • After inserting several conductors and/or conductor groups in the branch, you can map them with conductors references (or conductor group reference).
  • If you select the Propagate attributes from Conductor (Conductor Group) reference to Conductor (Conductor Group) features option in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Electrical and Electronic Systems > Electrical 3D Design > Conductor section, you can propagate the attributes of a conductor or conductor group reference in conductor specifications or conductor group specifications mapped with it.

Inserting Conductors Manually
  1. From the Conductors section of the action bar, click Map Conductors .
  2. Select an electrical physical system in the tree.
    • The Instanciate / Link / Unlink Conductors and Conductor Groups dialog box appears.
    • Conductors and conductor groups belonging to the selected electrical physical system are listed.
Important: Only the conductors and conductor groups belonging to the first hierarchical level of the electrical physical system can be managed in the dialog box. Therefore, conductors embedded in conductor groups are not displayed in the list.
Note: If the technological package is not loaded from the database, a message appears and the command is deactivated.
  3. Under Data Source, select either:
    • Electrical Library
Note: This is the default option. For more information about libraries, see Working with General Libraries.
    • Electrical Catalog
    • Database or session
  4. Select Activate / Deactivate filter and then select Not resolved in the Filter on Link/Unlink Status list to see only the conductors that are not yet mapped.
  5. Select one or more unresolved conductors that have the same part number reference, then click Instantiate from reference in session or database and Link.
    The Content Chooser appears.

For more information, see Using the Content Chooser.

  6. Search for the conductor reference.
If there is only one conductor reference, it is automatically inserted into the electrical physical system.

If there are several versions of the conductor, you must choose the version of interest.

The Link Status of the selected conductors is updated in the Instanciate / Link / Unlink Conductors and Conductor Groups dialog box to Fully resolved. The conductors are moved to the Fully resolved folder in the tree.

Note: If you have not selected the Mapping option, the attributes of the conductor reference are not propagated in the conductor specifications.

However, if you select the Properties context menu of the conductor specifications, you can find the following information about the conductor reference:

    • Reference Part Number: the part number of the conductor reference, with the From, To and Status information.
    • Electrical Properties For Associated Instance:
      • Type
      • Section Area
      • SubType
      • Bend Radius
      • Diameter
      • Color
      • Mass

If you have selected the option, you can see that the attributes of the conductor reference (Electrical Properties For Associated Instance) are the same for the conductor specifications in the Properties dialog box.

  7. Click Close when done.
