Creating a Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects

A kinematics scenario with electrical cables defines which mechanisms, electrical branches (or any flexible objects), excitations, and probes are active in the kinematics simulation. The scenario also sets the time parameters for the simulation.

Before you begin:
  • You must have the license for Electrical 3D Design and Electrical 3D Part Design installed and configured.
  • A kinematics simulation must be open in the Mechanical Systems Experience app.
  • To ensure branches are available in the Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects dialog box, you must load the branch representation of the branch before selecting a flexible object for a scenario.

About Scenarios with Flexible Objects
  1. From the Scenarios with Flexibles section, click Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects to create a scenario including flexible objects.
The Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects dialog box appears. The content of the dialog box depends on the scenario you created.

If the product being simulated contains only a single mechanism representation, that mechanism is selected by default.

  2. If the product contains multiple mechanism representations, select the mechanism that you are simulating. Only one mechanism can be simulated in a single scenario with flexible objects.
  3. Click Scenario behaviors selection to enable the selection of flexible objects.
The Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects dialog box disappears and the Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects command is unavailable.
  4. Select flexible objects either in the work area or in the tree.
The selected flexible objects are highlighted.
  5. Click anywhere in the work area or press Enter to confirm the selection.
The Selected objects box is updated accordingly.
  6. In the Probes tab, indicate the probes that are included in the simulation:

    • Highlight a probe in the Available column and click the right arrow to include the probe in the simulation.
    • Highlight a probe in the Referenced column and click the left arrow to remove the probe from the simulation.

Only probes that were previously defined in the Mechanical Systems Experience app are listed in the Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects dialog box
  7. In the Parameters tab, enter the time limits for the simulation. The configuration of the mechanism will be calculated at regular intervals (as determined by the Time step) between the Start time and the End time.
  8. Click OK.
A kinematics scenario with flexible objects is created in the tree.
  9. To run again a scenario with branches, load the representation of the branches first.
The branches are available in the Kinematics Scenario with Flexible Objects and can be selected.
