About the Integration with the Drafting App

The generative view styles (or GVS) are defined by an administrator and specify the appearance and behavior of a generated view. This generation mode can be activated through the drafting option in Me > Preferences > Mechanical Design > Drafting > Administration expander, and clear the Disable generative view style usage check box. This topic provides information needed to create a drawing of the flattened geometry using the various representation options.

This page discusses:

About Generative View Style (GVS) options

The GVS specifies the appearance and behavior of a generated drafting view. In the DefaultGenerativeStyle.xml file, the Electrical and EquipmentAndSystems nodes are devoted to customizing generative view styles for views generated from the Electrical Manufacturing Preparation app.

Important: The same attributes as in V5 are kept for the import of GVS files into 3DEXPERIENCE, but some attributes may not be available.

Generative view styles only work on harness flattening data, after extraction from the 3D data.

All generative view styles apply to views generated in exact mode. On top of that, some generative view styles parameters also apply when creating other view types (CGR, approximate and raster), as specified for each concerned view dress-up element.

To activate the GVS, clear the Disable generative view style usage check box under Generative view style , in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Design > Drafting > Administration expander.

About GVS Parameters for Flattened Data

Drawing parameters for harness flattening are located in the Electrical and EquipmentAndSystems nodes of the generative view style XML file (available via Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Standard > generativeparameters category > DefaultGenerativeStyle.XML file).

In the Standard Definition dialog box, the Electrical node contains the following nodes:

  • Segment
  • Protection
  • Device
  • GreenLine
  • Sheet

The EquipmentAndSystems node contains:

  • Equipment
  • Support

The default values of nodes are delivered in the default GVS. You can change the values as per the requirement.

You can migrate the existing GVS values for Electrical and EquipmentAndSystems nodes to a new GVS using EmpDraftingGVSMigrator. For more information, see Migrating the Existing GVS Values to a New GVS File.

A complete list of all the parameters specific to the Electrical Manufacturing Preparation app can be found in Drafting User's Guide: Electrical Manufacturing Preparation Parameters and Equipment And Systems Parameters.
