Extracting the Geometry

You can extract and duplicate the 3D content of an electrical geometry or an electrical physical system.

All the devices, such as connectors, backshells, shells, complex connectors assembly, contacts and supports, are extracted provided that they belong to the same electrical geometry.

Note: When duplicating an electrical physical system, all the links with the electrical geometries associated to it are maintained.

Before you begin:
  • In one tab, open the product containing the harness content.
  • In another tab, open the product in which you defined the flattening parameters.

About Extracting 3D Content
  1. Tile the tabs horizontally to get a better viewing of the process.
For more information, see Native Apps Tabs.
  2. Activate the product containing the flattening parameters.
  3. From the Formboard section of the action bar, click Extract .
  4. Select an electrical geometry or physical system in the work area or in the tree.
Important: If you have selected the Electrical Connection option, a message appears stating that the harness content contains at least one unconnected branch end.

In the message box, choose between following:

    • Yes: Executes the Extract command.
    • No: Quits the Extract command.

In the same message, it is recommended to run the network assistance to analyze connectivity between electrical objects. For more information, see Using the Network Assistant.

If you have not selected the Electrical connection option, the harness, beyond the branch having an unconnected end, is not extracted.

    • The harness content is extracted and duplicated.

    • A report is displayed at the end of the command to describe the status of the elements after the extract. It allows user interaction and cross-highlight between the 3D area harness and the extracted content. For more information, see Working with the Extract Report.
    Notes:
    • By default, the extracted content is automatically reframed in the 3D area.
    • For knowledge parameters extraction, only the result of the parameter formula is copied and not the formula in itself.
