Flattening Entirely

Generate Layout allows you to flatten the entire electrical physical systems or electrical geometries on the active plane.

Before you begin:
  • In a first tab, open the product containing your 3D harness content.
  • In a second tab, create a product and activate it.

How to correctly flatten data created before V6R2010x (including V5 data) with the FLEX option?
  1. From the Formboard section of the action bar, click Harness Flattening Parameters , and define the parameters as follows:
    1. In the General tab, choose an Active plane.
    2. In the Flattening Orientation tab, select Device placed in the active plane.

For more information, see Defining Harness Flattening Parameters.

  2. From the Formboard section of the action bar, click Extract to duplicate your 3D harness content.

For more information, see Extracting 3D Content.

Tip: To visualize only non-duplicated content, you can extract and flatten the geometry in one step using Generate Layout directly.

  3. From the Formboard section of the action bar, click Generate Layout and, in the tree, select an electrical geometry or an electrical physical system.

Important: If the selected content has unconnected branches, a panel appears to warn you about network inconsistencies. Click Yes to continue or No to stop the process.

The whole geometry is highlighted and the Generate Layout dialog box appears.

  4. Optional: Edit the Active plane and the Angle Mode.
  5. Click OK.

The entire content is flattened on the active plane set previously.

By default, the flattened content is automatically reframed in the 3D area.
