About Connection Between Cables and Connector Ports

Cables can be connected to connector port thanks to a connection point specifically created for this type of connection.

This page discusses:

Definition

A cable connection point is a connection point used to:

  • Route a non connected cable between connector port symbols.
  • Route or place a cable already connected to a connector port symbol in the following cases:
    • The connector ports are represented in the diagram view.
    • The connector ports are not represented in the diagram view.
    • The connector ports are multirepresented in the diagram view.

Creation Process

The cable connection point can be created in the connector port symbol representation. After associating the connector port symbol representation to the Default Electrical Connector Port Representation resource, the cable connection point will appear when placing connector port symbol representation in a diagram view. For more information, see Logical Reference Resources.

If no cable connection point is defined in the connector port symbol representation, one is automatically created when routing a cable on a connector port symbol, at the selected position.

Settings

The connection between a cable connection point and a cable is only possible if the Cable option is selected in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Electrical Sys. Design > Schematic. For more information, see Schematic.

To avoid connection points superimposition, select the Hide connection points that are connected option in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Functional & Logical Design > Diagram View. For more informtion, see Diagram View.
