Removing and Placing Cable

You can remove a cable from the diagram view without deleting the connection. The cables already connected can be placed in a diagram view again.

The following types of cable can be routed:

  • Cable group
  • Logical cable
  • Shielded cable
  • Twisted cable
  • Twisted and shielded cable
  • Power cable
  • Coax cable


Before you begin: In the diagram view,
  • Place the two components.
  • Create a cable and connect the two components.
  • In Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Electrical Sys. Design > Schematic, clear the Cable option. For more information, see Native Apps Preferences Guide: Schematic.

Routing Cables
  1. Click the cable and select Remove from View on the context toolbar.
    The cable is removed from the diagram view but the connection between the components remains.
  2. Right-click the cable and select one of the following options:
    • Place Cable and Content in View: The route is automatically connected to the two components.
    • Route Cable and Content in View: The connection points connecting the components are highlighted and the path of the cable can be defined.
  3. If you have selected Route in View, define the new route. For more information about the Route in View command, see About Route in View Command.

The cable is placed in the diagram view and connects the two components.
