Placing in View an Over Shield Representation

You can place an over shield symbol in a diagram view. The over shield representation is retrieved from Data Setup.

Before you begin:
  • Open a diagram view containing two components connected by two cables containing two wires.
  • In Data Setup, assign representation for the over shield to the Default Over Shield Ends Representation resource. For more information, see Electrical Logical Resources.
  • Create an over shield component. For more information, see Creating an Electrical Component Reference.


  1. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Cable Links .
  2. In the tree, select the over shield.
  3. Select the cables or one of its wires.
    The cables and their wires are grouped under the over shield component.
  4. In the tree, right-click the over shield component, and select Place Over Shield in View on the context menu.
  5. Select one of the components to indicate the location of the over shield representation.
    The over shield representation is placed in the diagram view.

  6. Optional: Repeat the Steps 5 and 6 to place a second representation of the over shield.
