Renaming Content

You can rename the content of the following electrical components:

  • Equipment component
  • Connector
  • Shell
  • Terminal block
  • Disconnect
  • Splice

You can define forbidden characters through the Pin Name Forbidden Characters resource of the Data Setup to forbid the use of certain characters. If the name of the pin contains forbidden characters, you cannot validate your creation. When renaming several pins, the forbidden characters are skipped. For more information, see Electrical Logical Resources.

Before you begin:
  • Create a logical reference (System) under the Logical node.
  • Create an equipment (Equipment 1) under the logical reference.
  • Create an equipment connector with pins (J1) under the equipment. For more information, see Creating an Equipment Connector.
  1. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Rename Content .
  2. Select the equipment connector (J1).

    The Rename Content dialog box appears.
  3. In the Existing Content box, select the content to be modified.
  4. Optional: Type a prefix for the contents to be modified.
  5. Enter the name of the first pin.

    Note: If there is more than one content to rename, their names follow the alphabetical/numerical order according to the name of the first renamed element.

  6. Optional: Type a suffix for the contents to be modified.
  7. Click OK to rename your content and close the Rename Content dialog box.

    Note: On a disconnect, connectors are paired. Renaming the content of one connector renames the content of the pair.

The name of the selected elements has been modified.
