Filtering Components Display in the Applicative Tree

In the applicative tree, you can choose to display or hide components whether they are placed in a diagram view or not. The applicative tree is a tree where items are organized by types.

Note: Except for disconnects, the filters cannot be applied on ports.

This task shows you how to:

Apply Filters on Cables

When applying a filter on a cable, you can decide to apply on the cable or on its content.

Filter Cable Display

Before you begin:
  • In Me > Preferences > Equipment > Electrical Discipline > Electrical Sys. Design > Instance Name tab, under the Displayed in a separate tree selected option, select Show cable.
  • Create a system containing a cable (Cable1 ) containing two cables (Cable2 and Cable 3 ).
  • Create two diagram views and place one equipment ready to be connected in each one.
  • In one of the diagram views, route Cable2 and end it as a sheet connector.


  1. Double-click the diagram view containing Cable2 .
  2. Right-click the system, and select Applicative Tree View.
    A tree displaying a different organization of the system appears.
  3. Click one of the following options to filter the components:
    No Filter








  4. Double-click the second diagram view and repeat and Step 3.
    No Filter






    Nothing is displayed under the Wire node.
  5. Route Cable3 and end it as a sheet connector.
  6. Repeat Step 3.
    No Filter








Filter Cable Content Display

Before you begin:
  • In Me > Preferences > Equipment > Electrical Discipline > Electrical Sys. Design > Instance Name tab, under the Displayed in a separate tree selected option, select Show cable content.
  • Create a system containing a cable (Cable1 ) containing two wires (W1 and W2 ).
  • Create two diagram views and place one equipment ready to be connected in each view.
  • In a diagram view, route W1 and end it as sheet connector.


  1. Double-click the diagram view containing W1 .
  2. Right-click the system, and select Applicative Tree View.
    A tree displaying a different organization of the system appears.
  3. Click one of the following options to filter the components:
    No Filter








  4. Double-click the second diagram view and repeat Step 3.
  5. Route W2 and end it as sheet connector.
  6. Repeat Step 3.
    No Filter


    Nothing is displayed under the Wire node.



Apply Filters on Disconnects

You can filter the full representation of a disconnect or one of its ports (plug and receptacle).

Before you begin: For the purpose of this scenario:

  1. Double-click the diagram view containing C1 .
  2. Right-click the system, and select Applicative Tree View.
  3. Click one of the following options to filter the components:
    No Filter








  4. Double-click the second diagram view and place in view C2 .
  5. Repeat Step 3.
    No Filter


    Nothing is displayed under the Connector node.
