Creating a Cable Group Reference

This task explains how to create a cable group to link unipolar distribution cables to multiple equipments.

Important: A cable group can only be created under a logical reference.


Before you begin:
  • Create a logical reference (Electrical System).
  • Create a diagram view under the logical reference (Electrical System).

  1. Activate the diagram view.
  2. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Create New Reference .
  3. In the tree or in the diagram view, select a parent component for your cable group (Electrical System).
    Tip: You can select a logical component before or after selecting the command.
  4. Expand the Electrical Logical tab and right-click Logical Cable Group.
  5. Click Logical Cable Group.
  6. Enter the necessary information and click OK.

    In the tree, under the parent component (Electrical System), note that:

    • A Cable Group node is created. They will be saved when you save the cable group.
    • An Extensions node is created to store all electrical objects. In our example, it aggregates a Wire node containing the extended electrical component (Cable Group 1).


    In the active diagram view, the Route Command dialog box appears. You can route your cable group or close the Route Command dialog box. For more information about routing cable groups, see Routing Cables.
