Derived Parts

The Derived Parts page shows the details about a part's lineage whenever the part is duplicated. It also provides access to create COs and CRs for the derived part. The Derived Parts page has two tabs. The Derived From tab shows the ancestors of a part by generation. The Derived To tab shows descendants of a part by generation.

Access the Properties page for a part. For details, see Part Properties.

  1. Click the Related Parts category, then click the Derived From or Derived To tab.
  2. To expand or limit the number of generations shown, from the page toolbar, click to expand all parts or click to select the number of levels to expand.

    You can also expand or collapse each part level of the BOM by clicking the plus (+) and minus (-) to the left of the part name.

  3. Use the Change Management menu to add parts to a new or existing change order or change request; or to use mass change to mass release or mass obsolete parts. See:

Fields

Column Description
Source Name The name of the source part from which the current part is derived. Click any highlighted name in this column to access the Properties page for that item.
Derived Name The name of the derived part. Click any highlighted name in this column to access to the Properties page for that item.
Derived Description Details about the derived part
Derived Part State The current state of the derived part in its lifecycle
Derived Part Design Responsibility The title of the organization that has design responsibility for the part
Source Part Revision The revision of the part from which it is derived
Generation Number The number of traversals in the derived relationship
Creator The person who created the derived part
Create Date The date the derived part was created
