Translations

You can manage the translations for a Services Specification, Services Document, or Business Document.

Required license role: Services Product Manager, Services Product Developer, Services Product Contributor, Services Product Business Metrics, Review and Approve

A person with the Services Product Business Metrics license role can only download translations. A person with the Review and Approve license role can only download translations and view the translations and source document of the translation.

Only a person with the Services Product Manager or Services Product Developer license role can promote or demote a translation.

To access this page:

  1. Open the required Services Specification or Services Document. For more information, see Opening a Services Document, Services Specification, or Business Document.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Translations.

Source Overview

Field Name Description
Language The language of this document.
Source If this document is a translation of another document, shows that document as a link.

In edit mode, you can select or change the source document. The selected document must be in the Released state.

Source Language The language set for the source document.
Root Source For a hierarchy of translations, the root source document (the top of the hierarchy).
Root Source's Language The language set for the root source document.

You can use the Edit tool to change the language or source.

Translations

The translations tab uses the same columns as described in Product Specifications and Reference Documents, without the Effectivity column.

Translations Actions/Toolbar Commands

Action Name Description For More Information
Create Translations Add a translated file. The document must be in the Released state.

The translated file must exist on your computer. No checks are made to ensure that the selected file is an actual translation of the context document.

You must have the Services Product Manager, Services Product Developer, or Services Product Contributor license role.

Creating Documents
Download Copies checked Documents to your computer without locking them on the server. If a document contains multiple files, they are downloaded in a single zip file.

Any license role can download the translation.

Checkout Copies checked files to your computer and locks them on the server. If a document contains multiple files, they are downloaded in a single zip file.

You must have the Services Product Manager, Services Product Developer, or Services Product Contributor license role.

Remove Removes checked documents, click OK to confirm.

You must have the Leader access role and own the Services Document to remove a translation.

For a Services Specification, you can only remove a translation if the Services Specification is in the Created or Draft state.

You must have the Services Product Manager, Services Product Developer, or Services Product Contributor license role.

Delete Deletes checked documents, click OK to confirm.

For baseline behavior, an Administrator can delete the document in any state.
