Investigating a Claim

You can investigate a claim to find correlations with other claims and streamline the resolution process. You can link a claim with any published investigation, see similar claims, analytics charts, and recommendations. You can also publish your investigation.

Link or Unlink Related Investigations

You can link the claim you are investigating with published investigations, either by adding them manually or by selecting those that Asset Quality Intelligence suggests automatically. You can also remove such links.

Important: Linking or unlinking a related investigation is only possible when investigating from a claim you have opened; it is not available when editing a published investigation.

Link a Related Investigation Manually

You can link the claim you are investigating with any published investigations.

Before you begin: You must have already published at least one investigation.
  1. From the Related investigation section, click Add.
  2. In the Search an investigation field, enter a few letters from the name of the investigation you want to link the claim with.
    A result list appears.
  3. From the result list, click the name of the investigation you want to link the claim with.

    If you are trying to link the claim with a newly created investigation, you must wait for Asset Quality Intelligence to have indexed it to see it appear on the list. This process may take a few minutes.

  4. Click Link.

The published investigation you have selected is linked with the claim and appears in the Related investigation section.

To link more related investigations, clear the Search an investigation field, then repeat steps 2, 3, and 4.

Link a Suggested Related Investigation

You can link the claim you are investigating with published investigations that Asset Quality Intelligence is suggesting, if any.

From the Related investigation section, click Link to this investigation for each suggested investigation you want to link with the claim.

Suggested investigations you have linked with the claim appear in the Related investigation section.

Unlink Related Investigations

You can unlink related investigations from the claim.

Before you begin: You must have linked your claim with at least one related investigation.
From the Related investigation section, click Unlink this investigation for each related investigation you want to unlink from the claim.

Sort and Curate the Claim Cluster

By default, the Claims tab of the Investigation on similar events pane contains a result list of claims that have been automatically detected as being similar to the claim you are investigating. You can sort the results and curate them by changing the similarity score, and by adding and excluding claims manually.

The claim you are investigating and all the claims from the results are then associated with each other to form what is called a cluster.

All the claims from the cluster will be included in your investigation if you publish it. For more information, see Publish the Investigation.

Change the Similarity Score

Asset Quality Intelligence determines similar claims automatically. You can adjust the degree of similarity that is applied to your investigation by changing the similarity score. By rising the score value, the result list displays claims that are more and more similar and the number of results decreases.

  1. From the Investigation on similar events pane, click the Claims tab.
  2. Move the Threshold slider to increase or decrease the similarity score.

    The similarity score appears to the right of the slider. It is usually a number between 0 and 1.

The result list immediately updates accordingly. Claims that you may have added manually will not be affected by the change of similarity score. They will still appear on the list.

Tip: If there are no results, try decreasing the similarity score.

Sort Results

By default, results are sorted by score. You can sort results by another sort option.

Tip: If there are no results displayed, decrease the similarity score. For more information, see Change the Similarity Score.

  1. Click Score and select a sort option from the list.
  2. Click or to change the result order.

Add Claims Manually

You can add claims to the result list manually, to include them in your investigation.

  1. Click Configure > Add New Claim.
  2. From the Add similar claim window:
    1. Search the claim you want to add by entering either its title or a keyword from its description in the search field.
    2. Optional: Refine the search results:
      • From the refine panel, click a category name to add a filter that refines the results on the corresponding content.
      • Click Exclude to add a filter that excludes the content associated with this category.
    3. Optional: Sort results:
      • Click Sort by and select a sort option from the list.
      • Click or to change the result order.
    4. Click Add new claim on the claim you want to add.

    You can repeat this step to add more claims.

  3. Click to close the Add similar claim window.

The claim(s) you have added appear(s) on the result list and are indicated with a blue Added badge.

Exclude Claims Manually

You can remove:
  • Any claim directly from the list by clicking Remove .
  • Claims added manually, by directly removing them directly from the list (which is explained above), or by using the manual edition pane. For more information, see Use the Manual Edition.

The result list immediately updates accordingly:

  • Removed similar claims are indicated with a red Removed badge.
  • Claims that you had added manually are deleted from the list.

Reinclude Excluded Claims

You can reinclude claims you previously excluded. For more information, see Use the Manual Edition.

Use the Manual Edition

You can view all the claims you have manually added or excluded. You can also remove or re these claims if you want.

  1. Click Configure > Show Manual Edition .
  2. You can do either or both of the following:
    • From the Added Claims section, click Remove on any claim you want to exclude.
    • From the Excluded Claims section, click Restore to reinclude any claim you previously excluded from the results.
  3. To close the manual edition pane, click Configure > Hide manual edition.

View Charts

You can view and interact with analytics charts that have been generated from the result list of claims automatically.

  1. From the Investigation on similar events pane, click Analytics to open the tab that contains all the charts.
    All the available charts are displayed. You can interact with them. For more information, see Using Line and Bar Charts.
  2. Optional: Refine charts. For more information, see Refining Content.

View Recommendations

You can view recommendations.

From the Investigation on similar events pane, click the Recommendations tab.

All available recommendations are displayed. You can drag them to include them to your published investigation. For more information, see Publish the Investigation.

Tip: If there are no recommendations displayed, try decreasing the similarity score. For more information, see Change the Similarity Score.

Publish the Investigation

You can publish your investigation. It will include all the claims from the claim cluster. You can also join charts and recommendations to the publication.

  1. From the right-side of the application, click Expand .
  2. Required: From the Publication pane, enter a title.
  3. Click Add a comment and enter your comment.

    You can repeat this step to add more comments.

    Note: To remove a comment, click Remove field next to the comment on the Publication pane.

  4. Include charts:
    1. From the Investigation on similar events pane, click Analytics.
    2. Drag each chart that you want to include to the Drop element area of the Publication pane that will appear as you drag.

      Any filters you may have added will remain applied to the dragged chart.

    Note: To remove a chart you have included, click Remove next to the chart on the Publication pane.

  5. Include recommendations:
    1. From the Investigation on similar events pane, click Recommendations.
    2. Drag each recommendation that you want to include to the Drop element area of the Publication pane that will appear as you drag.

    Note: To remove a recommendation you have included, click Remove next to the recommendation on the Publication pane.

  6. Click Publish.

The investigation is published. It is added to the claim as a related investigation. It is also added to the tree map that is on the home page in a dedicated blue rectangle. You can link the investigation with any other claim as soon as Asset Quality Intelligence has indexed it.
